79 coronavirus suspects test negative, all routes from Kerala to Mangaluru closed

Mangaluru, Mar 21: A meeting was conducted with the officials here at deputy commissioner’s office on Saturday, March 21.

District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "All types of preventive measures are being taken to stop coronavirus from spreading. As per order, Dakshina Kannada-Kerala border has been sealed. Only in case of emergency, vehicles will be allowed from Talapady border. Rest of the borders are sealed completely.

“We have also made arrangements of screening in railway station. Till now, 89 persons have been tested in which 79 are negative while the report of 10 is still awaited.

“Self isolation is a must, stay at home and be safe. Public needs to cooperate. All arrangements have been made in PHCs and hospitals. Asha representatives are also trained to create awareness. We have urged the chief minister to have a testing lab in Mangaluru which will soon be set up.

“If marriage functions are already planned and cannot be cancelled, we urge them to conduct it in a simple way and avoid people gathering in large numbers. Even crowds should be controlled in bus stands. Vehicular movement should be less. If anyone ‘marked’ is found roaming, public needs to inform police,” he said.

Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, MLA U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangaluru south MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, MLC Ivan D’Souza and others were present.

    If anyone wants to marry please make it a home affair. It is not at all safe for even for married couple who want to start their life. Don't order food from caterers. If at all ordering please see that heigne is maintained.

    kerala people migrated all over world as labour force...when they return to homeland due to corona outbreak in other countries, the effect will spill to Mangalore also...good step by govt. to ban traffic from across the state...
