Mangaluru, Mar 12: Pachhanady Hagu Ghanatyajya Bhaadita Itare Pradeshagala Samrakshana Samiti urged Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to process waste at Pacchanady dumpyard.

Addressing media here on Thursday, March 12, Samithi member M G Hegde said, “Last year, the whole area was swallowed by Pacchnady garbage landslide. MCC should see that no waste is dumped at Pacchanady. They have to clear it immediately. At the same time, waste should be processed. The waste collected at the dumpyard has already contaminated well water and other water resources. The proposed retaining wall at a cost of Rs 4 crore is of no use. When it rains heavily it cannot prevent the flow of garbage.”

Member of samithi, Lawrence D’Souza said, "MCC should take steps to process the waste through an agency. There are enough technological solutions available to process the waste.”
