Flamingo couple in news for their 'parents goal'

New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS): An intriguing video of Flamingo couple who were feeding their babies has went viral on social media and has left netizens amazed.

In the first look, it seems like they were fighting but were actually just feeding their babies.

The photo was shared by an IFS officer Parveen Kaswan with the caption: "No they are not fighting. This is one of the most amazing things in nature. Parent flamingos produce crop milk in their digestive tracts & regurgitate it to feed young ones. See how together they are doing it. Source: Science Channel."

In a separate tweet, Kaswan explained that "This crop milk is made up of protein & fat rich cells of the lining of the crop, which is part of alimentary canal where food is stored before digestion. Which effectively means they are feeding their stomach before kids can start eating solid food."

In the video, one flamingo has its beak placed on the other bird's head, which appears to be covered in blood. But if one looks closely, you will see the chick feeding from the red crop milk: The red coloured liquid is crop milk which the bird is regurgitating to feed their young one with the help of other birds.

The video has garnered over 12K likes and more than 3.7K retweets.

As the post went viral, it has left everyone on Twitter amazed at the beauty of nature and how it works.

A user wrote, "That's Really Informative, awesome apart."

Another wrote, "Thankyou for explaining it..... I was shocked to see the blood initially. However am sure the one bleeding to feed is the mother."

A post read, "Never heard or seen anything like this before!"

"Ohh man this is something extraordinary, seriously nature is full of surprises," a user remarked.
