Freak gunshot kills CRPF commando near Ambani home


Mumbai, Jan 23 (IANS): A Central Reserve Police Force commando, reportedly deployed in the security detail of RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, was killed after his service automatic rifle went off accidentally late on Wednesday, official sources said.

The commando, identified as Devdhan Bakotra, 30, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

As per a Mumbai Police statement on Thursday, the incident occurred on the Patanwala Road going to Navrang Society from Altamount Road where Ambani's iconic Antilla residence is situated.

The case is being further investigated by the Gamdevi Police Station in south Mumbai, it added.

While Ambani is accorded the CRPF's top Z-Plus VVIP security cover, his wife Nita Ambani is accorded Y-Category security.
