South Mumbai traffic to be hit, Grant Road bridge shut for 6 months

Mumbai, Jan 15: To start the regrinding work, Western Railway is going to shut down the British-era Frere road overbridge (ROB) at Grant Road. The Road connects Lamington Road (DB Marg) to Nana Chowk is going to shut from January 16.
 
Reportedly, the repair work could take up to six months and is said to impact traffic in south Mumbai. The heavy vehicles moving Maulana Shaukat Ali Road and DB Marg (E) towards Nana Chowk Junction will be Kennedy bridge at Opera House Junction or Diana bridge at Patthe Bapurao Marg or Bellasis bridge at Mumbai Central.
 
 
According to the officials, the repairs will cost up to Rs 9.6 crore. The British-era bridge was built back in 1921.
