Mangaluru, Dec 4: Members of traffic warden squad was felicitated at police commissioner’s office on Wednesday, December 4, which is sponsored by NRI entrepreneur Michael D’Souza.

As many as 11 traffic wardens were felicitated.

Police commissioner Dr P S Harsha said, "Mangaluru is a growing city and to manage traffic here is very challenging. Lot of police personnel put their effort to manage traffic. Along with it, even traffic warden squad, led by chief traffic warden Joe Gonsalves, has joined hands with traffic police voluntarily. I appreciate the effort put up by Joe in setting up traffic warden squad. We urge more and more volunteers to join the squad. I will also appeal to all the CEOs of the software companies to join hands with traffic warden squad.”

Entrepreneur Gilbert D’Souza, brother of Michael D’Souza, said, "It is very rare wher police personnel are felicitated. We need to honour police personnel for their relentless hard work and service towards the society. We, as a whole society, need to encourage them. We have to come forward to honour and recognise them for their work which will encourage them.”

Chief traffic warden Joe Gonsalves said, "Traffic warden squad was flagged off on October 2, 2015, with the help of then police commissioner Murugan. Police has given full-fledged support in the last four years.”
