People are losing faith on Modi's leadership - Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 24: Leader of opposition and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah said that all over the country, the faith imposed by the people of the nation on the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is coming down.

Siddaramaiah was speaking at a press conference in the city in the wake of the assembly election results of Maharashtra and Haryana. He further said, "In both the states, BJP has not got any overwhelming support. In the state of Maharashtra, it has got fewer seats compared to the previous election. In the state of Haryana, a hung verdict is given by the electorate. This is a clear indication that Prime Minister Modi is losing his ground,”

"In all the exit polls, it was predicted that BJP will have a cakewalk in both the states. Now it is turned out to be wrong. Congress had shortfall of resources. Lots of leaders of Congress had bid goodbye to the party. Even the opposition leader of Congress himself had gone to the BJP,” he added.

"Under any circumstances there is no question of BJP forming the government in Haryana. In the campaign, state BJP did not highlight any of their achievements. They just banked on emotional issues like Pakistan and Kashmir. This has been rejected by the voters. The percentage of votes of BJP has gone down considerably. Congress has secured more percentage of votes compared to the last elections. Only due to lack of resources we got lesser seats,” he opined.

"If Shiv Sena does not wish, then BJP cannot form government in Maharashtra. People have out rightly rejected Modi. In both the states the percentage of votes polled by BJP is far lesser than the last time,” he said.

"Though Modi is doing lots of gimmicks, the status of his party has taken a beating. Result of this election is an indicator of the same. I expected Congress to assume power in Haryana. But it has not materialized. In the state of Maharashtra, I campaigned for Congress candidates in three seats. Out of that we are victorious in two.

"I still have doubt on EVMs. I had said during the Lok Sabha elections that EVMs can be misused. Now it is published in newspapers that it is indeed possible to hack EVMs. That is why the suspicion is rising. As there is suspicion on EVMs, let the EC go for ballot paper voting again,” he demanded.

"In the state of Gujarat, people have rejected candidates who have defected to other political parties. Electorates will teach a fitting lesson to legislators who have defected to other political parties. This will be the same case in Karnataka also. In the by-elections of Karnataka for 15 constituencies, we will win majority of the seats. Yediyurappa is going to resign. Once the BJP government collapses, we will go for fresh mandate. BJP had formed government without majority. We will not make that mistake."

These elections are to 'clear' the bad name of the bad EVM's. This is to try to influence voters to believe that EVM's can be trusted for use in the countrywide elections. Of course (no?) hacking of EVM's will take place for the main elections.

It was right for Rahul to resign as the party chief and the prime ministerial candidate. His reputation has been tarnished by the opposition through a vicious media campaign. Now the BJP does not have the trump card to mock the opposition. They have been weighed and found wanting. Its only a matter of time before they will return to dust.

If BJP wins the elections, then blame EVMs and if they lose few seats then accept the verdict and blame Modi's governance. Mr. Siddu, people are not so innocent nowadays like 30 years back. Now today's era, people can understand cong old gimmicks , so be sensible while giving statements.

Yes Sir, your comments are true. But a little more effort from Congress would have changed the picture.

Old leaders should retire from Congress and give way to the young ones. They should use their new ideas and potentials to bring their party up. Internal fights between yourselves should stop and rebuild the confidence the people have lost with them.

Dear siddu, people cornered u completely.

If i have 2 vote my first vote to modi and 2nd one to either tp nota or any other candidate who do not support congress divide and rule ir rule and divide policy.

Congress not ruled india for 70 year but looted only.

Your 5 year term was exactly mirror to british rule, u divided people to rule and divided again after ruling.

First u divide people based on religion then u divided people with in religion.

People stopped congress completely and never ever give any chance again
