Bantwal, Sep 16: "It is the duty of the government to provide education even if there is only one student in government school. Education Cess that is paid by the citizens of the country while paying tax is for the same purpose. The aim of the government is to bring order in the country through education," said actor and director Rishab Shetty.

Rishab Shetty was speaking after receiving the felicitation at the Kairangala aided higher primary school on Sunday, September 15. The programme included the renaming of the school as Vidyodhaya pre-primary school, felicitation of Rishab Shetty, who has taken lead in the renovation of the school and also the friendly gathering of the old students of the school.

Rishab Shetty further said, "Government schools are being closed giving lame excuses of various schemes. It should go into the minds of the people that education is not business to make profits. When I thought of making a movie, I got the Kairangala school for the filming of the movie. The administrative committee of the school has given all facilities for completing the shooting of the movie without any hassles. I have studied in Kannada medium in government school. Even now I cannot speak proper English. But the effort to conserve Kannada schools through the movie has given success."

Retired judge Bare Keshava Bhat, retired teacher Narayana Holla, zilla panchayat member Mamata D S Gatty, chief of Kannada Shale Ulisi movement Anil Shetty, director of Kairangala Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha N Padmanabha Naringana and doctor of Kairangala Dr S S Ram were present.

President of Jaya Karnataka Vidhyodaya Trust Kollaramajalu Shankar Bhat welcomed the gathering. Old student of the school Khalil recalled sweet memories of the school. Trust member Shailendra Bharat Naik did the introductory speech.
