Restored Jayakar Bungalow in NFAI Pune inaugurated


Pune, Sep 15 (IANS): Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Sunday inaugurated the newly renovated heritage building Jayakar Bungalow at National Film Archive of India (NFAI) here.

The Minister took a walk inside the bungalow that is now said to be equipped with a digital library, film library, screening rooms, a multi-purpose hall and internal courtyard, along with guest rooms.

According to ffo.gov.in, the Jayakar Bungalow was established in 1910 and has its name acquired from its resident M.R. Jaykar, who was the first Vice Chancellor of Pune University.

The bungalow was designed with wooden floors, a narrow staircase, high bookshelves symbolising typical British architecture. NFAI is also housed in this exquisitely designed bungalow.
