Mangaluru: Konkani Manyatha Divas in Milagres College

Mangaluru, Aug 24: On Friday, August 23, Konkani Manyatha Divas was celebrated at Milagres College, Mangaluru.

Programme Convener Prem Moras welcomed the gathering and briefed the struggle which took place for recognition of Konkani language.

The chief guest Eddie Sequeira, director of Rang-Antharang Konkani Manchi, appreciated that so many students have taken Konkani as their language at the graduation level and learn more aspects of Konkani literature and culture. He motivated students to get into Konkani dramatics, music and literature and hence propagate Konkani for the future generation.

The guest of honour Eddie Netto, a veteran Konkani writer motivated Konkani students to study Konkani seriously and to speak Konkani whenever and wherever possible and promote Konkani writers, Konkani actors and Konkani culture in the society.



Milagres College principal Fr Michael Santhumayor presided over the function. He spoke on importance of learning Konkani in schools and colleges.

On this occasion Ashwin Fernandes and Ivin D’Souza, top scorers of Konkani subject in the University Semester Examination of 2018-19, were honoured.

Konkani Association president Thrinal D’Souza was present on the dais. Neslin D’Souza, co-Convener rendered the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Arvin Pinto.
