Mangaluru, Jul 12: K G Ramakrishna, station inspector of Suratkal police station, who was suspended for dereliction of duty in controlling drug network and also other issues under the limits of his station by city police commissioner Sandeep Patil is taken back on duty.

The police commissioner has kept the disciplinary action pending on the inspector and has asked him to join back to duty. Accordingly, Ramakrishna has taken charge from the night of July 10.

The police commissioner had given instructions to the police officials to take stringent action against cow theft and Ganja dealing, the instances of which were rising under the limits of city police commissionerate. However, the station inspector of Suratkal police station did not take these orders seriously and was casual in his approach.

In addition, when the public had approached the station to register a complaint against a finance company for cheating the public, the inspector had sent the people back without registering the complaint. In the background of these complaints against Ramakrishna, he was suspended from duty by the police commissioner.

So tragic honest officers have to dance to the tunes of the politicians. What respect will the Commissioner have now? Will his influential subordinates follow his instructions? No person with a modicum of self respect do a just and fair job in the circumstances. Politics has taken a heavy toll of law and order in the country. We have touched rock bottom as far as principles and rules are concerned.
