Bengaluru: Offer to vacate seat for grandfather still holds good - MP Prajwal Revanna

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 22: Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who did not attend the Lok Sabha on the first day of the session because of health issues, took oath as a member of the Lok Sabha on Friday, June 21.

Speaking to media persons later, he explained that he had to stay away from the opening day's session as the doctors had advised him to take rest. He said he has taken oath on Friday. "I did not face tough competition in Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. As we had undertaken lot of development works in that constituency, I could easily come out victorious," he stated.

Prajwal said that Karnataka faces lot of challenges on irrigation front. "Deve Gowda was the voice of the people of Karnataka in the Lok Sabha. I am a sincere worker of the party and I nurse the ambition to see H D Deve Gowda inside the Lok Sabha. Therefore, I had requested him to take over my seat. I also had handed over my resignation letter to him. He can take a decision on the issue any time. As I won from the constituency which he had been representing since long, it does not tantamount to sacrifice of my seat in his favour," he stated.

Prajwal Revanna said he does not intend to go back from his decision to resign from his seat. He said that the people of Karnataka ardently wish Deve Gowda to occupy a seat in the Lok Sabha. "I have taken oath as Lok Sabha member today. I will follow his guidance. Deve Gowda has the capacity to build a party, nurture it and to hold discussions about the state's problems with the central leaders. Therefore, I will abide by the decision of my party on this offer," he clarified.
