Margao, Jun 18: Disturbed by the adamant attitude of the private firm handling a garbage treatment plant in South Goa, State Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai threatened to dump waste at the doorstep of the company, if it continues creating dispute with local civic body.

Fomento Green, a subsidiary of Fomento Resources has been handling garbage at Sonsodo waste dumping yard near Margao town of South Goa.

The company which has written to local civic body, Margao Municipal Council, to terminate its contract to treat the waste has apparently stopped accepting the garbage over certain issues with Margao Municipal Council.

“There is a cat and mouse game between Fomento and municipality. Who has started it? Has it started by God? I don’t understand,” Sardesai said.

The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a gathering during Goa Revolution Day celebration in South Goa.

“I am warning municipality and also Fomento. I am representative of people. We will not keep quiet. We agreed to provide segregated garbage at Sonsodo, but the company is not accepting that too,” he added.

“Where shall we dispose the garbage? The language which (Delhi CM) Arvind Kejriwal speaks, we can also speak in same language. If they (company) don’t agree then we can put the garbage at their doorstep,” he said.
