Bengaluru, May 23: A woman was allegedly attacked by a group of people belonging to Hindu outfits for eloping with a man from Muslim community.

The victim woman is aged 24. She is originally from Tripura.

The victim filed a complaint with the Hebbal police on Tuesday stating that a group of men barged into her house in Sumangali Sevashrama Main Road in Hebbal. They beat up her friend, ransacked her house and took away all her education certificates on Saturday.

The complaint also states that victim’s uncle Titu Ghosh (45) threatened her to leave the boy and return home or else he would kill her and her mother.

Titu Ghosh then gave her mobile number and Bengaluru address to unknown persons belonging to the Bajrang Dal and other Hindu outfits. She started receiving multiple threat calls from unknown people. Then, a group of people barged into her house on May 18, and assaulted her and her friend and took away all her education certificates, the victim said in the complaint.

The police have taken up the case and booked Titu Ghosh and others under extortion, trespass to assault and wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation and are investigating.

The police suspect that Ghosh had hired local goons belonging to Hindu outfits to attack the victim.
