Hyderabad, May 16: Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj came to the aid of a Hyderabad based woman who was sent by a recruiting agent to Oman with false promise of a job as beautician on a salary of Rs 30000 per month.

Kulsum Bano, the victim of human trafficking was made to work as a House maid soon after she landed in Oman. She worked as a maid for a month and refused to continue working. The recruiting agency allegedly retaliated by confining her in a room for ten days assaulting her and making her starve.

She later approached the Indian Embassy in Oman which accommodated her for four months. She contacted her daughter and explained to her the ordeal. Her daughter in turn lodged a complaint with union minister Sushma Swaraj. The Indian embassy upon intervention by the minister paid Rs five thousand Omani riyals imposed as penalty on Kulsum Bano and repatriated her to India.

Kulsum Bano who reached Hyderabad on May 8 has expressed her gratitude to External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and the Indian Embassy in Oman for their help.
