Mangaluru, Mar 9: The department of Sociology St Aloysius College (autonomous) here, in association with Wonder Splassh Water Sports Organization organized a one day clean water campaign 'Namma Nadhi Swatcha Nadhi' programme on March 7 at Palguni River Near, Kulur here.

The main objective of the programme was to sensitize students regarding pollution contaminating water bodies of Mangalore River, instill a sense of responsibility and participation among students in environmental activities, bring about clean water bodies in Mangalore city, to create awareness among public regarding the need to keep the environmental clean and safeguard life under water.

A total of 35 students from final BA Sociology participated in the programme. Under the guidance of Dr Prema Dsouza HOD of Sociology department, students undertook various cleaning activities on the bank of the river. Ravi Paul Ferrao, promoter of Wonder Splassh and other staff members of the organsiation were present on
the occasion.

The programme concluded with a small water sports activity for the students.

At the end, Dr Prema acknowledged his gratitude towards the students and organization.
