Sonu Nigam hospitalised due to seafood allergy, shares photos of swollen face

Mumbai, Feb 8 (PTI): Playback singer Sonu Nigam has said he was hospitalised early this week due to a seafood allergy.

Sharing a picture of his swollen eye, the 45-year-old singer in an Instagram post wrote, "Thanks for your concern and love. Now that you know that I am returning back from Jeypore Orissa after managing a concert last night, I now don't mind sharing how I was the day before yesterday."

"Lesson for all of us, never ever, ever, ever take a chance with allergies. Seafood in my case. If Nanavati Hospital wasn't nearby, my trachea would have swollen up further and lead to asphyxiation. Happy and healthy life to everyone," he added.

Referring to his scheduled concert in Jeypore, Sonu said, "Yesterday wouldn't have been possible without your love. And of course, my entire extended family of musicians and technicians... And most importantly my doctors."

    98% of food allergies/intolerances are caused by natural proteins present in foods. People have immune systems that can't or have grown to (latency) not recognize proteins from either milk, meat, fish, wheat, specific nuts, eggs, & sometimes even rice or certain fruits as food, & instead treat them as a pathogens, hence triggering an immune response which could range from simple reactions like acne or mild diarrhea to sometimes being deadly. There is no actual cure yet, but in extreme cases, only emergency drugs to avoid further complications like anaphylaxis & death, epinephrine being one of them. That's because the so called allergy is coded in your DNA, & not something you usually acquire from a disease causing microbes or chemical agent unlike other types of allergies. Consulting & avoiding the certain problematic protein is your best bet & is actually helpful for living a better quality of life like a normal person. Most people in India aren't educated about this & have actually died without knowing the cause of death, which is due to negligence. Not all food allergies are deadly, but it could be. Food poisoning from bad fish has nothing to do with this, actually.

    You should take one Anti allergic tablet, eg. Cetrezine or avil tablet,in case hospitals or Dr. Is not nearby.

    Get well soon Sonu Nigam. On 31st New Year me and my family were for a dinner at BARAQUE NATION at Kankanady Mangalore. We started eating the grilled giant prawns which they served on Charcoal on our tables. After eating few my wife started with allergy and her tongue became thick and she couldn't even speak to me. I immedietly admitted her at Fr. Mullers Hospital in 5 minutes. The Doctors gave her injection and everything became normal in 1 hour . If that hospital wasn't there at that time I don't know what would had happened. Thank God.

    Avoid eating fish in unknown hotels as fish bred in privately are harmful to health due to feeding fish with harmful food containing toxins.
