Mangaluru, Jan 13: St Aloysius College Alumni/ae Association (SACAA), Mangaluru organised the annual get-together of old students at Ladies Club on Saturday, January 12.

Fr Dionysius Vaz, rector, St Aloysius Educational Institutions and Fr Praveen Martis, principal, St Aloysious College were present as chief guests for the event.

Santhosh Kumar Kadri welcomed the guests and gathering with a briefing on the alumni association and its contribution to the college and society.

Addressing the gathering Fr Dionysius said, “Today, St Aloysius Educational Institution is celebrating its foundation day. The institution started by nine Jesuit priests has now grown like a huge tree. Thousands of students have received value based education from here and secured their future. It is a very happy moment to see them all in the name of reunion. The alumni of the college has played an important role in various development programmes of the college. I am thankful to SACAA for their continuous support and concern towards our college.

“Currently, 14,000 students are pursuing their education in this institution. In the days to come, the UGC committee will visit our college for inspection. If everything goes smooth and well, our college will become a deemed university very soon. Meanwhile, we are happy to have inaugurated the Civil Service Academy. The college management will run this academy. As a benefactor, Michael D’Souza, philanthropist and NRI businessman, collaborated with us for this project. I am thanking him for his support. Now our focus is on to train dedicated and committed candidates who are interested in civil service,” he said.

Fr Santhosh Kamath, Fr Melwyn Mendonca, Fr Eric Mathais, Stevan Pinto, convenor of the event were present. Capt Peter Pais rendered the vote of thanks.

Jacqueline Fernandes compered the event. Rhythm Mates enthralled the gathering with music and songs.
