Mangaluru, Jan 10: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will confer Ullal Srinivasa Mallya Honorary Award on cardiologist, educationist and author Dr B M Hegde in a grand award ceremony on January 12 at Town hall, informed Mayor Bhaskar Moily.
Addressing media here on Thursday, January 10, Mayor Bhaskar Moily said, "The four other awards will be conferred on Manohar Prasad for journalism, Ramakrishna Ashram for social service, Dr Hanibal R Kabral for community education and service, and Sara Aboobakkar for literature.
“N Ismail, principal, Badriya College, Chandrakala Nandavara and Uday Kumar, principal, University College, were part of the selection committee. Ullal Srinivasa Mallya Award will include Rs 1 lac cash award, a citation and a memento, while the other four awards will consist of Rs 50,000 cash each, along with mementos.
"The award programme will be inaugurated by district in charge minister U T Khader, and the awards will be presented by former union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA South Vedavyas Kamath, MLA North Dr Bharath Y Shetty, MLC Ivan D Souza, B M Farooq, S L Bojegowda, and deputy Mayor Mohammed who will grace the occasion,” said mayor Bhaskar Moily who will preside over the function.
