Upper caste reservation is 'jumla': Yashwant Sinha

New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS): Former Union Finance Minister Yahswant Sinha on Monday dubbed as "jumla" (fake promise) the Modi governments move to approve 10 per cent reservation for economically backward upper castes in jobs and educational institutions.

Sinha questioned the government's intent citing legal complexities and paucity of time as the current session of Parliament is scheduled to end on Tuesday.

"The proposal to give 10 per cent reservation to economically weaker upper castes is nothing more than a jumla. It is bristling with legal complications and there is no time for getting it passed through both Houses of Parliament. Government stands completely exposed," tweeted Sinha.

According to informed sources, the Union Cabinet approved 10 per cent reservation for economically backward upper castes in jobs and educational institutions and the government was likely to introduce a constitutional amendment bill in Parliament on Tuesday.

    reservations stink to the lowest depths of hell. Admissions, recruitment and promotions should be based on merit; economic backwardness should be one of many considerations .. but who is going to apply them in practice, not the ones who wield the authority..

    So many desperate attempts by the Modi government to cover up the mess of these five years. One is a barrage of jumla schemes and fake promises. Additionally the investigative agencies seem to have been ordered to work overtime to harass opposition leaders so that they do not find time for electioneering.

    Sri_elder USA is an immigrant country. Their original habitants are Red Indians (native Americans) not Hindu Americans. So reservations are not applicable.l
    But Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) which is chaddi Indian American affiliation of RSS, wants to propagate upper caste Brahmin casteism in certain political circles in USA....and Trump has already mocked feku about constructing only library in Afghanistan.

When there is no reservation for christian in christian country how they call a person from Karkala and give him job???
