Christmas is one of the most popular festivals worldwide. It is celebrated on December 25 every year, but celebration starts well in advance. It is celebrated in the honour of the Lord Jesus Christ as he was born on this day. 2000 years ago Jesus was born to a woman called Mary who was engaged to Joseph a carpenter in the town of Bethlehem. Mary was visited by an Angel who told her that she would give birth to a baby and that the baby would be called Jesus also known as 'Emmanuel' which means 'God is with us'. Jesus lived an exemplary life and taught everyone to follow the path of goodness. He taught people to believe in the Almighty and to perform good deeds. The life led by Jesus is an example that must be followed by everyone for attaining salvation and for living in harmony on this earth.

At this festival a midnight mass is considered as the most important service for Christmas especially for Catholics when the entire family goes to mass and enjoys a massive feast of various delicacies. Exchang of gifts is also part of the festivity. Few days before the day, carols are sung, people enjoy decorating the church with poinsettia flowers and candles especially for the Christmas midnight mass service, preparing a crib and Christmas tree decoration in the house or in the garden is a special custom and tradition of Christmas celebration.

On this day children become very happy as they get gifts by their parents and Santa Claus at midnight. They wear a Santa cap and Santa dress to celebrate this day and sing carols. Christmas brings love, happiness, compassion, joy, peace sharing to each and everyone. May the grace of baby Jesus be with everyone on the eve of Christmas.
