Mangaluru, Dec 15: MLC Ivan D’Souza handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lac to the mother of Shivaraj (45) resident of Bengre, who was murdered at his residence at Tannirbhavi on 22 January this year.
Addressing media here on Saturday, December 15, Ivan D’Souza said," Shivaraj was the brother of rowdy sheeter Bharatesh. Shivaraj was murdered by three unidentified persons while he was sleeping on his terrace. Accused had come to kill Bharathesh but had mistakenly killed Shivaraj, who is innocent.”
“Soon after the murder, I urged then chief minister Siddaramaiah to release Rs 2 lac to the family of Shivaraj who are from very poor background, but the concerned officials claimed that it was a murder and will not be able to give the money to the family. But I did not leave at this. I met commissioner and understood the true fact of the murder where Shivaraj was mistakenly killed in place of Bharatesh. I met chief minister Kumaraswamy and urged him to release Rs 2 lac,” said Ivan D Souza.
