Kasargod: Man hunting wild animals in sanctuary shot dead

Kasargod, Dec 12: In a tragic incident, a Kasargod based man who had gone to hunt wild animals near Bhagamandala was shot dead. The deceased is identified as Chittarikal resident George Varghese (48).

The incident has happened when George and his friends Ashok and Chandran had gone to Vagaman wild life sanctuary in the vicinity of Bhagamandala, in Karnataka state limits for hunting the animals.

It is not clear if the forest guards have shot at George or a member in the group of hunters accidentally pulled the trigger.

Karnataka police have taken custody of the body of George. It is said that police have detained Ashok and Chandran who are being questioned. Police have been watching the area for naxals. The truth will be known only after investigations.
