Mangaluru, Dec 8: Vikas Career Guidance Programme - 2018 was organised by Vikas PU College, Mangaluru, on its campus on December 8.
Dr A M Khan, professor and registrar, Mangalore University, and CA Sonith Shetty, director, Vardaan Academy, the chief guests, inaugurated the program.
Dr A M Khan, in his address, stressed on the importance of discipline and determination to achieve the goals in life. He reminded the students that they are the ones who are going to build the nation further. CA Sonith Shetty in his speech asserted that knowledge, experience and talent are the key qualities that bring more employment opportunities in the contemporary world.
Prof T Rajaram Rao, principal, and Ayshwarya Rao, Commerce incharge, welcomed the gathering.
Krishna J Palemar, chairman, Vikas Education Trust, Santhosh Prabhu, counsellor, ICSI, Udupi district, J Koragappa, treasurer, Vikas Education Trust, trustee Suraj Kumar Kallya, Dr Ananth Prabhu G, advisor, Vikas Education Trust, Parthasarathi Palemar, coordinator, Vikas Group of Institutions, Dr Manjula Rao, dean, Vikas Group of Institutions, Dr Ajay Takur, principal, Vikas College of Physiotherapy, and Suguna Nayak, HOD, Commerce Department, were present on the occasion.
The programme further continued with sessions on various fields of courses and professions handled by experts from respective fields. The session on ‘Next Generation Courses’ was delivered by Dr Ananth Prabhu G, advisor, Vikas Education Trust, professor, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management. Prof Manas Jain, Asst. professor, MITE, threw light into the opportunities and scope of engineering courses.
Dr Ashok LP Mendonca, principal, Bearys Enviro – Architecture Design School, Mangaluru, elaborated the scope in the field of architecture and design. Dr Shivakumar Magada, Professor of Aquatic Biology, College of Fisheries, Mangaluru, enlightened the students in agricultural and allied courses. Dr Unnikrishnan, Dean, KMC, Mangaluru, handled the session on medical courses.
The session on dental courses was delivered by Dr Sudeendra Prabhu, Professor, Yenepoya Dental College, Yenepoya University, Mangaluru. Dr Karthik Rai, Associate Professor, Dept of Dravyaguna and PG Studies, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mangalore led the session on ‘AYUSH’. Dr Ajay Takur, Principal, Vikas College of Physiotherapy guided the students to the promising prospects of physiotherapy courses. CA Sonith Shetty, Director, Vardaan Academy, guided the students how to face the competitive examinations and CMA.
Santhosh Prabhu, Counsellor, ICSI, Udupi District, spoke on the scope and opportunities of the course Company Secretary. Dawn Prakash, Asst Professor and Trainer, SDM Post Graduation Centre for R&M, delivered the session on personality development.
Prof Manoj Louis, Professor, Govt First Grade College, Kavoor, handled the session on CA/CLAT/LIB.
Science and commerce students of Vikas PU College participated in the programme with great enthusiasm and widened their understanding in the prospects of their career.
