PM Modi to lay foundation stone for Mangaluru 'City Gas' scheme

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Nov 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone on Thursday, November 22, for the innovative 'City Gas' project of the central government under which cooking gas will be supplied directly to each house of the city.

The foundation stone will be laid at 4 pm at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. This project will be implemented by GAIL Gas Ltd in 129 districts of the country including the city of Mangaluru. This programme will be telecast live simultaneously in all the districts, which will be covered under the scheme. In addition, the bidding for the implementation of the programme also will be inaugurated at the same time.

A separate programme is organized in this connection in the Town Hall of the city. This function will take place at 2.30 pm on Thursday, November 22. Central minister Sadananda Gowda, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr Y Bharat Shetty and mayor of MCC Bhaskar K will be the chief guests. Once the stage programme is over, arrangement is made in the Town Hall for the direct live telecast of the foundation stone laying ceremony by PM Modi.

Progress of work so far

The laying of pipeline for the gas supply from Cochin to Mangaluru is already completed by GAIL, which a central government enterprise. The pipeline will be further laid to supply natural gas to MCF in the city. This pipeline will be 35 kilometre long and will cover 16 villages. A project is being drawn to supply the same gas to the citizens of the city through pipeline.

The aim of the scheme is to provide cooking gas to each house in the city. For this the gas pipeline will be laid after obtaining permission from MCC, MESCOM and BSNL and also taking into account the water and drainage pipelines. In addition, city gas bunks will also be installed at several places in the city.

MCF and MRPL Township to be covered first

As a trial implementation of the project, around 200 to 500 houses and industries will be supplied with gas through pipeline. The pipeline will be laid first in either MCF or MRPL Township near Suratkal. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will arrive to Cochin terminal via ship from Qatar. If this is brought through 'LNG Bullet' through ship, which is similar to 'LPG Bullet', the gas is enough to feed 1000 connections for a month.

Otherwise there is a possibility of bringing the gas in 'Cryogenic Tanker' by road transport just like LPG tankers. A small terminal will be set up in the city like the one in Cochin terminal to convert the LNG into gas form. From there, GAIL will supply the gas as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for vehicles, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for household use, and for commercial and industrial use separately.

Despite inflation, soaring fuel prices, unfulfilled promises, etc. fate of Modi in the coming elections will be decided by people who have benefited from LPG, electricity connections, Jan Dhan accounts, Jeevan Suraksha, mudra loans, toilets and such other poor friendly schemes. In our region members of RSS have been actively involved in implementing such schemes for the poor which I never saw Congress supporters doing during UPA’s tenure.

While PM Modi to lay a foundation stone for Mangaluru 'City Gas' scheme, LPG price crosses ₹1,000 for the first time in 70 years both Modi and BJP govt are silent.
The cost of non-subsidised domestic LPG (14.2-kg cylinder) is hovering around the ₹1,000 mark in most regions of Karnataka, and in Bidar a cylinder is being sold at ₹1,015.5. In Bengaluru, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is sold at ₹941 to a non-subsidised customer, while it is sold at ₹921 at Mangaluru (closer to LPG import facility as well as bottling plant), ₹962 at Hubballi and ₹956 at Belagavi. Prices were ₹654, ₹630, ₹670 and ₹666 a cylinder at these places, respectively, in April this year, while it was ₹721 in Bidar.
History is made—for the first time in 70 years!—in Bidar. LPG price crosses Rs 1,000 per cylinder in the North Karnataka town. November price: Rs 1,015, up from Rs 721 in April, a ‘desh seva’ of just Rs 294 in 6 months.
It’s not just in Karnataka, in Nitish Kumar-led Bihar, a domestic non-subsidised cylinder costs ₹1041.5.
“LPG crosses ₹1000. 70 Saal Mein pehli baar. Another of Modi’s grand achievements.”
What does our PM Modi do when he is not travelling abroad?
Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to be a busy man these days; he is busy inaugurating metro stretches, flyovers and sewage plants. On Monday, November 19, Modi is scheduled to flag off a 3.2 kilometre section of Violet Line on the Delhi Metro route through a remote control, open the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and lay the foundation of the country’s first Sri Vishwakarma Skill Development University in Palwal district through remote control. One can only wonder how a foundation stone can be laid through a remote control.

Why comments here against Modii is jealous. Please tell which election 2014 promises he has fulfilled. BJP is hijacking all the projects of previous government. Even bullet train project which he has dreamt like development is not even started. Let's talk about achievable project like cleaning river Ganga. That also forgotten. Petrol, diesel prices have shot up disproportionately and there is lot of anger amongst people. So do not call this anger as jealously.

This is not development, this is developing a scam.

The gas pipeline works when we have natural gas and an infrastructure to deliver the same to house-holds. It is ecologically advantageous as the gas which was otherwise burnt, get delivered for a purpose and it works out to be clean fuel, emitting lesser carbon.

Now, we don't have either one like neither natural gas or the well laid infrastructure. What it means is helping the Govt., contractors to dig the roads that is already build, take PUMP-WELL CIRCLE years to develop infrastructure and pay for it, through taxes.

With no feasibility studies done, each of these are well planned scams with a dose of nationalism, paid by middle class with their usual carelessness and ignorance. Modi led BJP is master in this craft.

Millions of farmers in India were unable to buy seeds and fertilisers for their winter crops because of demonetisation, according to a report submitted by the Union Agriculture Ministry to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance.

Reading some of the comments makes me shudder to think of the negativity that has taken over the country. Yes by all means vote against BJP, Congress or anyone but to abuse the democratically elected prime minister for laying a gas pipeline shows a perverted and destructive mindset.

@common man - that you need to research and find out and let others know too...

By the way I want to install one under ground gobar gas plant for our home but I didn't find required solution.. I wanted many technical capabilities installed like gas pressure indicator, regulator, gas pressure indicators after regulator and then moisture removal component from methane gas..but no solution available in the market... Any help would be appreciated...

You have a problem for everything, made a certain creepy type mindset for opposing everything ....
Do you have any idea, how gas pipeline will help people's day to day work ....
You don't have to book cylinder and carry it home, people will get 24 hours uninterrupted cooking gas through pipeline .....
The cost of fuel will be half the rate what you pay now .... You get an instant bill and pay it online .....
Grow up and get a life, don't oppose everything for the sake of it .....

One more step towards development. One or other day mangalore will turn to industrial zone..as connectivity nearby of land route...sea route or air route. As always people around involved in chillata..better to disburse them to other places..a last alternative.
