Mumbai: Man lynched in Vikhroli on suspicion of theft


Mumbai, Nov 19 (NIE): A 19-year-old man was allegedly lynched in Vikhroli on Sunday evening on the suspicion of theft.

The incident took place at Chandan Nagar, Vikhroli West, at 6.45 pm. The police said that four men beat up the deceased, Rahul Panchal, after catching him in possession of a cellphone, which they claimed he had stolen from the area.

The police said that Panchal was assaulted so brutally that he was declared dead at the Mahatma Phule Hospital in Vikhroli.

Four men — Suresh Varma, Surendra Varma, Shivkumar Varma and Monu Pandey — were booked for committing murder and three of them were arrested, the police said.
