Mangaluru: Cyclone Gaja effect - coast gets rainfall, more likely in two days

Mangaluru, Nov 19: Cyclone Gaja has cast its influence on coastal districts of Karnataka. On Sunday evening, a number of places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received good rainfall.

A woman was killed in Arashinageri village of Mundagod taluk, Uttara Kannada district, due to lightning. The victim has been identified as Laxmavva Hemlappa Lamani (60). She was working in the fields when lightning struck. Another woman, Gowramma Tippanna Lamani, was injured in this incident.

Several parts of Bengaluru city, Siddapur, Beelagi and some other parts of Uttara Kannada district also got good rainfall. A number of places have been experiencing cloudy weather coupled with light drizzle and strong wind. Standing paddy crops over thousands of acres of land in Uttara Kannada and Ballari districts were destroyed to the rainfall.

A release from the meteorological department said that coastal districts and a few places in southern interior and northern interior Karnataka may get rains and thunder for a couple of more days.

    Rain will bring happiness to farm land owner's.but natural calmity bring sad news to all and panic to center govt.tressury. just we can pray after two days nothing will be effected due to the rain.
