Mangaluru, Nov 13: The 14th annual Pingara Rajyotsava Award 2018 instituted by Pingara newspaper was conferred to founder of Humanity Trust Roshan D’Souza Belman by bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, in a ceremony held at Town Hall here on Tuesday, November 13.

Roshan D’Souza thanked the jury members and Raymond D’Cunha for encouraging him with the award. “People are my support and strength. The credit goes to them. I thank the donors who helped the needy and thank everyone for their constant support throughout,” he said.

Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said, "I congratulate Roshan D’Souza for the Pingara Rajyotsava award and his service to the needy. Editor of Pingara Raymond D’Cunha is presenting this award for the achievers since 14 years which is appreciable.”

Kemaru Math Swamiji Esha Vittaldas said, “This is the most deserving award presented to Roshan D’Souza who has worked for the benefit of humanity. It’s unfortunate that today we are living in a world where humanity is lost. We can notice that whenever accident takes place, instead of helping, people are taking videos and making it viral. We should build the value of humanity.”

Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, "Since 14 years Pingara under the aegis of Raymond D’Cunha is presenting this Rajyotsava award which is commendable. I have met Roshan D’Souza for the first time but I have heard of his works. So far he has donated over Rs 3 crore to the needy and I congratulate him for that.”

Former MLA J R Lobo said, "The service of Roshan D’Souza has been recognized by Pingara with this award. Roshan D’Souza is walking in the footsteps of Mother Theresa and he is spreading a strong message that we should also help the needy. Juries have made a right selection of presenting this award to Roshan D Souza Belman.”

Former president of Konkani Sahithya Academy Roy Castelino, former president of Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Parishad Harikrishna Punaroor, Fr William Menezes, parish priest of Angelore church, former general manager of corporation bank C J Pinto, Kudroli temple development committee member Dr B G Suvarna, Elias Fernandes from Four Winds and Sadananda Perla from Akashavani were the jury members this year.
