Mangaluru: Protest against Tipu Jayanti – nearly 70 from Hindu outfits detained

Mangaluru, Nov 10: Police in city arrested nearly 70 persons from various Hindu organisations like Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Sri Rama Sene. BJP’s minority leader Franklin Monteiro was detailed earlier.

Franklin Monteiro was arrested last year also for holding such protest during Tipu Jayanti.

As there are prohibitory orders, people are not allowed to assemble or protest against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti today. But Franklin Monteiro came alone to protest and he was detained.

Later Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists including Sharan Pumpwell came with black flags and they were detained.

Sri Rama Sene activists came after that, who too were detained by police.

All these protestors came to Zilla Panchayat premises where Tipu Jayanti is observed by the district administration.

Udupi report

In Udupi, around 12 members of various Hindu outfits were arrested who tried to hold protests.

The security has been beefed up every corner of city.

The situation has been peaceful.

What about the pumpwell flyover when? will Mr. Pumpwell protest at the pumpwell flyover so that it will be completed at the earliest. By the way abolish all the Jayanthies including the Tipu's Jayanti.

Tippu sultan fought to get gold, silver and looted guthu houses. (there are still few guthu houses destroyed by him leaving daiva sthana untouched).
He Indulged in conversions, rapes and slaughters..you can speak anything now... But you cannot erase history.
Only fear he had of Hindu temples.. He was not touching them because of fear.
You better study history before advising others.

Tippu was a great freedom fighter 😂 whose freedom did he fight for ?? With whom did he won the fight??? Did he killed innocent people in the name of religion if yes then even Allah wouldn’t have pardoned him till now since he went against the holy Quran!!!! I would better celebrate Jayanthi of asfaqullah Khan or APJ kalams rather then the Jayanthi of that person whose hand is soaked with the blood of innocent

All want to know what is the use of this Jayanthi. This ruler came from outside and all of a sudden he had a love for our mother INDIA. Taxpayers money wasted in this celebrations and just because to hurt the sentiments of all the ancestors of the Region people are commenting here.
Just because the right wing is changing names of cities in India, this should not be the deterrent by Congress.
We Christians always preach forgive the person who hurt you, but here by doing this so-called Jayanthi the government is rubbing salt on the wounds again and again that we have forgotten and forgiven.

All I want to know what is the use of this.

If anybody wants to celebrate the birthday of a butcher the onus is on him/her. But what Christians and Hindus are protesting is celebrating the birthday of a butcher with tax payors money. Also, there is a false notion that Tipu was a freedom fighter, this far from true as he was a mass murderer, rapist, plunderer and a religious fundamentalist.

ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನರ ನರಮೇಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆರೆಯೇ ನೆತ್ತರಕೆರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬದಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಆ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಚರ್ಚ್‌ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು ಶ್ರೀರಂಗಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಕ್ರೂರ ಹಿಂಸೆ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆ ಮಂಡ್ಯದ ಅಯ್ಯಂಗಾರರನ್ನು ಸಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನದ ತಿರುಮಲ ರಾವ್‌, ನಾರಾಯಣರಾವ್‌, ಸುಬ್ಬರಾಜ ಅರಸ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಾರಾಣಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಮ್ಮಣ್ಣಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯವಾಗಿದ್ದ 700 ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀರಂಗಪಟ್ಟಣದ ರಂಗನಾಥಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಎದುರಿನ ಹುಣಸೆತೋಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೇಣು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದು ಇದೇ ಟಿಪ್ಪು. ಇದನ್ನು ಆತ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದು ನರಕ ಚತುರ್ದಶಿಯಂದು; ಆ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಇಂದೂ ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಅಚರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ನಿಜ. ಆದರೆ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಡಿದವರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರಲ್ಲ. ಫ್ರೆಂಚರು, ಡಚ್ಚರು ಕೂಡ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಹೋರಾಡಿದವರು. ಆತನೂ ಕೂಡ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರಂತೆಯೇ ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರ. ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಶೃಂಗೇರಿಗೆ, ನಂಜನಗೂಡಿಗೆ ದಾನ ದತ್ತಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಆತ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋತು ಸುಣ್ಣವಾಗಿ. ಮೊದಲ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆತ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕ್ರೂರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ. ಕೊನೆಯ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ತಂತ್ರಗಾರಿಕೆ, ಓಲೈಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿತ್ತಷ್ಟೇ. ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ನಾವು ವಿರೋಧಿಸುವುದಲ್ಲ. ಡಾ.ಎಪಿಜೆ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್‌ ಕಲಾಂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಈ ದೇಶದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಕ್ಷ ಬಿಜೆಪಿ. ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಸಮಾಜ ಸುಧಾರಕರನ್ನು ಬಿಜೆಪಿ, ಆರೆಸ್ಸೆಸ್‌ ಸದಾ ನೆನೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.

How many celebrating Tippu Jayanthi in DK? I guess number arrested are more than those celebrate! Tippu killed Catholics, tortured them.....everyone knows it!! This protest is just a practice by right wing for pass time! Ignore this celebration done by handful and all of us can live in peace!!! Why not put the same efforts to protest bad road from Kulur to Baikampady, Pumpwell and Nanthoor fly over?? Responsible person is from your camp right??? This is not a festival my friend . It was just introduced by Siddu for vote bank politics. Tippu Jayanthi was never dared to be celebrated when Nehru and Indira were alive, but now Raul Vinci Khan openly declares Congress as a minorities party, reversing Nehrus Mountbatten legacy to his grandfather Feroz Khans legacy. He then calls BJP as communal.

Though I am not a supporter of BJP, here I support Mr .Monteiro. Tippu killed thousands of Christians in Kerala and Ktaka . He made Catholics to march from Mlore to Srirangapatana and those who protested were killed at at a lake , that today is called Netterekere. Many of them were forced to convert to Islam. And some catholics support him for vote bank purposes.They are just backstabbers.
