Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 8: A truck which developed problems and got stranded at Karavali Bypass here on Wednesday November 7 resulted in traffic jam for an hour.

The truck in question was moving toward Kundapur from the direction of Manipal at about 5.45 pm on Wednesday. When taking a right turn through the underpass at the junction, the truck developed engine problem and got stuck there. As this incident happened during rush hour traffic, vehicles moving toward Malpe and Kundapur and also those coming from Malpe got stranded at the spot.

The police initially allowed traffic to move in a narrow space available but after a KSRTC bus got stuck there, the police effected traffic diversions. Therefore, vehicles coming from the direction of Udupi had to take a left turn at Karavali bypass and move to their destinations by taking a turn at Ambalpady junction. Those coming from the direction of Malpe were allowed to move on a part of the underpass. The police also indented a crane, which worked for 30 minutes to move the truck aside and pave way for smooth traffic.
