Dalit community appreciates Udupi DC’s stern steps on sand mining

Udupi, Oct 28: Members of Dalit community on Saturday met DC Priyanka Mary Francis and opposed illegal sand mining in Udupi.

The leaders of various Dalit associations appreciated DC's stern steps taken against sand mining during the meeting.

They also demanded cancellation of permits given illegally and urged to provide contracts of sand mining instead to deserving labourers.

They also warn of protests if fake sand labourers continue holding demonstrations without prior permission.

Prior to this meeting, the Dalit members took part in a meeting with district police superintendent at his office.
