Udupi: Tipper owners’ protest called off, DC seeks 30 days time to find solution

Udupi, Oct 22: The indefinite strike launched by Tipper Owners Association in the district against the failure of the district administration to solve the issue of sand shortage has been called off.

Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis asked for a 30-day period to find a solution to the raging issue of sand mining in the district. The protesters agreed for the same and called off the protest.

The protesting tipper and lorry owners have also warned the district administration of calling a bandh once the 30-day time period is completed and if an amicable solution is not formulated.

A press meet will be held by officials and also members of the protesters on Tuesday, October 23.

The indefinite stir was launched by Tipper Owners Association on October 18 in different taluks of the district.
