Indian Social Forum Jeddah assists to repatriate body of Gollalappa

Jeddah, Oct 22: Shaikapur Gollalappa Hanumantaraya, an expatriate Indian employee from Kumbada village of Jevargi Taluk, Gulbarga died on September 27 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia due to cardiac arrest in a private hospital.

The family members of Gollalappa Hanumantaraya pleaded for help with the district administration, local MLA and Gulbarga MP to bring the human remains of Gollalappa to their native place for the final rites. There was no result as the district administration and politicians did not take any action for four days.

SDPI intervention:

SDPI came to know the situation of Gollalappa's family through media channels and local leaders of SDPI, met the family of Gollalappa at their residence and assured them to extend all possible help to bring the body of deceased Gollalappa back to the hometown. Immediately SDPI leaders contacted the leaders of Indian Social Forum (ISF), Jeddah and explained the gravity of the matter and conveyed the situation of the deceased family members in India. ISF, Jeddah Karnataka state president Mohammed Ali Muloor and Haris Goodinabali took up the matter with utmost priority and acted on it. They visited the hospital to collect information and approached to the company where the deceased had worked in Jeddah and started to process documents for repatriation.

Power of Attorney
Since there was no relative of Gollalappa in Jeddah, Kavitha wife of deceased issued power of attorney to ISF president, Mohammed Ali to complete the formalities to dispatch the dead body to India. Completing all formalities the mortal remains of Gollalappa was dispatched on October 15 and reached the hometown on October 16.

SDPI Gulbarga district arranged for the transportation of the dead body from Hyderabad Airport to Jevargi through the district administration. Local leaders of SDPI were present to receive the dead body of late Gollalappa.

Family and relatives of Gollalappa lauded the efforts of SDPI and ISF leaders and for their help and support to bring back the dead body of their beloved to his hometown, while they expressed anger against the district administration and representatives for their negligence.
