Moodbidri, Oct 6: Students of Journalism department of Alva’s College, here emerged overall champions at ‘Beacons’, a two-day media fest’, organized by Nitte Institute of Communication, Paneer, Mangaluru.
St Xavier’s College, Goa, won the runners-up trophy. About 500 students from different universities and colleges participated in 20 different events at the two-day festival.
The events included photography, TV news bulletin, RJ hunt, mock press, crisis management, product launch, debate, creative writing, digital poster making, Movie Spoof, street play, potpourri, Escape room and quiz.
The Alva’s students got first place in street play, PSA and digital poster making. Crisis management, mock press, and product launch were the events of second spot. The winners received cash prizes and certificates.
Nitte Centre for Science Education and Research, Professor Smitha Hegde distributed the prizes.
