Mangaluru: St Aloysius BEd College holds research workshop

Mangaluru, Jan 22: St Aloysius B. Ed College, a leading institute of teacher training of the city organized a day-long workshop on research Methodology for the various college staff members and students.

Fr Leo D’ Souza SJ, director, Laboratory of Applied Biology, St Aloysius College, the president of the programme inaugurated the workshop. In his key note address he said, “Research begins when we develop questions. It is a careful and detailed study into a specific problem using the scientific method. Research questions need not be always developed by adults, but also we can find such questions in children as well. Teachers must be good observers to find out problems to conduct researches in their subject area.”



Dr Anup Krishnamurthy, assistant professor, St Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bengaluru and Dr Caren Rodrigues, assistant professor, St Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bengaluru were the resource persons.

Dr Caren Rodrigues conducted a session understanding the research process. It covered an overall idea of research process and the generic steps to be followed. Various examples of research works were cited. Participants were guided how to find new ideas and check the feasibility of such ideas.

Dr Anup Krishnamurthy said, “Research means finding out the truth and not finding out a result as per one’s own predetermination”. He explained about the importance of review of related literature in research and the various techniques of searching for such sources. He also gave guidance on how to publish research articles journals.

Dr Farita Viegas, principal, delivered the welcome address. Sr Poustena and her team invoked almighty’s blessings. Fr Eric Mathias, director of the college, graced the occasion. Jerome D’ Souza, convener organized the workshop.
