Congress suspends Mani Shankar Aiyar for calling PM Modi 'neech'

New Delhi, Dec 7 (Deccan Chronicle): Mani Shankar Aiyar was on Thursday suspended from primary membership of Congress Party following his controversial remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A show cause notice has also been issued to Aiyar by Congress party over his remarks about Modi.

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, earlier on Thursday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "neech aadmi" (vile man), who does "dirty politics".

"He (Modi) is 'neech kism ka aadmi' (a vile man) who has no 'sabhyata' (civility)," he said, attacking Modi after the latter accused the Congress of seeking votes in B R Ambedkar's name but trying to erase his contribution to building India.

The Congress strongly disapproved of Aiyar's remarks, with party Vice President Rahul Gandhi saying he and the party expected the leader to tender an apology.

"BJP and PM routinely use filthy language to attack Congress party. Congress has a different culture and heritage. I do not appreciate the tone and language used by Mr Mani Shankar Aiyer to address the PM. Both the Congress and I expect him to apologise for what he said," Gandhi said.

The prime minister earlier on Thursday, while inaugurating the Ambedkar International Centre that was conceived 23 years ago, hit out at the Congress, saying parties seeking votes in Ambedkar's name tried to erase his contribution to nation building.

He said he would not be wrong in saying that "more people are still influenced by his (Ambedkar's) ideas than the family for which such efforts (to erase his contribution) were made".

Later, Aiyar apologised even as he defended his remark on PM, stating that Hindi was not his mother tongue and that he meant low level when he used the term "neech".

"I meant low level when I said 'neech', I think in English when I speak in Hindi as Hindi is not my mother tongue. So if it has some other meaning then I apologise," he said.

"Why was PM taking a jibe at Congress and Rahul Gandhi at the inauguration of Ambedkar International Centre? Everyday PM is using foul language against our leaders. I am a freelance 'Congressi', I hold no post in the party, so I can reply to PM in his language," he added.

Indian politicians belonging to various political parties, have a very strong tendency to let their tongues rule over their head and heart, i.e., without even pausing to think what they are saying.

This is nothing but a display of a very serious disease called "foot-in-the-mouth", the cure for which, is, severe punishment from the Courts/Election Commission, leading to their disqualification from their elected post of "Peoples' representative", in addition to levy of very heavy penalties. These strong measures alone, will be able to nip this menace in the bud.

Loha lohe ko kaatatha hai. BJP and PM routinely use filthy language against political opponents is the first line of Raga's tweet on the Mani issue yesterday. Where and when do BJP or any of their leaders apologise ? Hypocrisy at its peak.
Yeah, yeah, yeah the extra wise will now say two wrongs do not make a right but note that what goes around comes around. Action and reaction are equal and opposite (famous words 2002) and yeah the extra wise again will also say that an eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind but that is exactly where this Modi government is making India head towards today by lowering political discourse to such depths. If you give respect you will get respect.
In a related article on the Mani issue Bollu, Mangalore gave a very fitting comment as follows :
"Frankly Modi 's reputation has reached its nadir. People don't mind who said what about him now a days".

These types of comments are Common and nothing special At All. Congress is making fool of itself by sacking iyar now ! . By sacking Iyar Congress wants to show they are still credible. All the time Congrss did not speak one word against him and it was appearing as if his statements were pleasing Congress leaders but now a different drama?. In clear sense They have betrayed Iyar by sacking him at wrong foot and Thus they want to gain Political MIleage out Of Iyars cost and finally get few more votes. They have made Iyar a scapegoat. Congress Must find out where the statements like " Mouth Ka Saudagar " originated from ? Full world knows regdg reckless statements of Dig Singh who has no control

A brilliant person but lacks common sense at times. Puts the leadership of his party under severe embarrassing situations. Before the Lok Sabha elections, it was the "Chaiwala comment" and now before the Gujarat elections the word "Neech". Good message by Rahul Gandhi to all his congressmen that loyalty and sycophancy cannot be extended to damage the party image. Though the majority of the Indians dislike Mr Modi's decisions and fall in economic growth consequent to his policies, we have to respect him as our PM.

This guy has gone out of his head to say such things at the last minutes before elections. The way he has been suspended from party shows how concerned Congress is about winning Gujarat elections. Let him go back to Pakistan again to garner support to remove Rahul Gandhi from his post as President of Congress party. If you do not the meaning of a word, don't utter it. simple as that. This has nothing but helped the BJP. Let us wait and see what happens on the 18th.

A few years ago the same Mani Shankar Aiyar went to Karachi and on Pakistani TV openly urged Pakistanis to â removeâ an elected PM of India( It being well known that ISI is sending Terrorists into India) and bring Congress back to Power! Only in a Super tolerant India would such an anti National Traitor not be immediately Jailed! Congress never saw fit to suspend him then. So blatant Anti National behaviour is okay but a Political misstep is not? This ploy of suspension is just a face saving exercise with Guj elections in mind.

Mani Shankar Ayer was always speaking with tacit approval of Gandhi family. Let us remember that he said in 2014 that Modi could never become PM but he could sell tea in Congress meeting. The same Mani Shankar Ayer in a TV show in Pakistan told that he needed help of Pakistan to remove Modi to improve relation with Pakistan. 2 days back Kapil Sibal asked SC to postpone hearing on Ram Mandir till July 2019. He was opposing Ram mandir whereas Rahul declared that he was Shiva Bhakt.

    Hello KRPrabhu, Bangalore/Mangalore

Please note, Mr. Aiyar has not been suspended for his remarks on PM and don't think congress party was hurt by his comments. But in reality, his derogatory statement has created a lot of irreparable damage to congress party within few hours of his statement. Modi, a shrewd and clever politician has already utilized this opportunity today and told Mr. Aiyar's comments are insult to people of Gujarath. Realizing this development, congress has suspended Mr. Aiyar in an effort to stop sentimental shift of Gujarath voters towards BJP, that too when few hours are left for poll. But damage has already happened and Mr. Modi already took advantage of Aiyar's remarks.

When he married and when he deserted ? May be at very young age.

Generally a person who think about his life never leave wife.

He decided to leave his self enjoyment and he decided to move in a different direction. His so called wife never said that Modi betrayed him. She understood very well why and what direction Modi started his journey.
She saw modi and understood Modi better than you, me or somebody else. Let she complain first. Then let all of us join the chorus.

There are people tried their best to take this point to make an arrow against him. No success so far.
