Mangaluru: National CME on transfusion medicine held at FMMC

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Blood Transfusion Services is a vital part of modern health care system without which efficient medical care is impossible. So, in order to update the advances in this field, department of pathology, Father Muller Medical College in association with Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine on December 2 organised a national CME on transfusion medicine, 'TRANSCME 2017' on the theme, 'Evidence based transfusion medicine'.

Dr Uday Kumar, medical superintendent, welcomed the gathering. Dr Jayaprakash C S organizing chairperson, professor and head, department of pathology, Father Muller Medical College introduced the chief guest, Dr R N Makroo.



Dr R N Makroo, president, Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine, director and senior consultant, department of transfusion medicine, molecular biology and transplant immunology, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi was the chief guest for the programme. He mentioned that transfusion medicine is an emerging field. Volunteer blood donors and rationale use of blood are pivotal to ensure safe blood transfusion.

Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the function and said that a lot of advances are taking place in the field of transfusion medicine. Eminent speakers in the field of transfusion medicine had attended to deliver their feast of knowledge to all the delegates.

Dr Kirana Pailoor, organising secretary, associate professor of pathology and incharge blood bank officer, Father Muller Medical College Hospital proposed the vote of thanks.

Fr Ajith Menezes, administrator Father Muller Medical College, Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, administrator, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Fr Jeevan George Sequeira were present at the function.
