Udupi: Annual Sports Meet begins at Milagres English Medium School Kallianpur

Udupi, Nov 23: The three-day annual Sports Meet 2017-18 of Milagres English Medium School Kallianpur began on November 22 at 9 am on Milagres College grounds.

Steevan Dias, a national level medallist in marathon and walk, who has earlier captained the state team in athletics, was the chief guest. He is presently working in the excise and customs department and is also the vice president of Dakshina Kannada Athletic Association.

“The march past was colourful and fantastic,” said the chief guest. In his speech, he stressed on the need to excel in sports along with studies as it provides the necessary stamina, discipline and competitive spirit for life. Fr Stany B Lobo, correspondent of Milagres Institutes presided over the function. Young and energetic headmaster Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, Veera D Silva, the headmistress and the presidents of the parent-teacher’s associations were present. Fr Prakash Castelino, the campus director of Milagres College graced the occasion.



The correspondent took the guard of honour. The little tiny tots of the kindergarten were the center of attraction during the march past as they performed with great determination and enthusiasm.

The sports meet will run for three days from November 21 to 23, commencing with sports events for kindergarten to 4th std on the first day, 5th to 7th std on the second day and 8th to 10th std on the third day.

For the first time in history the entire school of around 1200 students from kindergarten to 10th std performed a grand march past.

Fr Lancy Fernandes welcomed the gathering and Veera delivered the vote of thanks. Mariet compered the programme.
