Akshay gives self-defence lessons on TV


Mumbai, Nov 11 (IANS): Actor Akshay Kumar stressed on the importance of learning self-defence tactics for women to the audience which came to watch the shooting of his show "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge".

The actor invited a few ladies onto the stage and showed them some moves that can be helpful, read a statement.

"Do not freeze. Make a move in the moment. You invite more danger if you are scared. Do not freeze, be confident," Akshay said.

The show is aired on Star Plus.

Namik's mom worried about finding a girl for him

Actor Namik Paul says his mother is scared that she will have a tough time finding a girl for him due to his supernatural character in "Ek Deewaana Tha".

"I enjoy playing intense characters and Shiv's spirit look has been appreciated by all my friends and family members. The response has been phenomenal," Namik said in a statement.

"My mother is my biggest supporter as well as my biggest critic. She was, no doubt, apprehensive of me portraying a spirit initially, but eventually came around. But now she feels that women may stay at arm's length from me given my spooky onscreen avatar and she may have a tough time finding the right girl for me," he added.

The show, which also features Donal Bisht and Vikram Singh Chauhan, is aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

When Priyank Tatariya turned into an interpreter

Actor Priyank Tatariya says he was helping out his "Ikyawann" team communicate well in Gujarat while shooting for the TV show.

"Ikyawann" depicts the life of a Gujarati girl Susheel Parekh, who is the 51st child of her family.

To bring alive the authenticity of Gujarat, the makers shot the initial episodes in Ahmedabad.

Priyank, who plays Susheel's father in the show, is a Gujarati, and had become the translator for the rest of the cast.

"The rest of the cast do not know Gujarati and would get hassled while shopping and going around Ahmedabad. So I acted as the interpreter between them and the locals. We ended up having a lot of fun and the whole cast had a great time," Priyank said in a statement.

The show will air on Star Plus.
