Madikeri: Tipu Jayanti - Samiti calls for Kodagu bandh on November 10

Madikeri, Nov 8: Kodagu district Tipu Jayanti Virodhi Horata Samiti has called for Kodagu bandh on Friday November 10, in protest against the decision of the state government to celebrate Tipu Jayanti.

In his statement, Abhimanyu Kumar, president of the association, said that the Samiti will oppose the celebration of Tipu Jayanti vehemently. The Samiti has decided to celebrate Martyr Kuttappa Day on November 10 in all the three taluks of Madikeri, Virajpet and Somwarpet.

He also said, "The state government has created a fearful situation in the district due to its decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti. We are going to have Kodagu bandh from 6 am to 6 pm on November 10. We request all the schools and colleges to be closed on that day. Auto rickshaws and private buses are also requested to stay off the road and support our protest. Even shopkeepers and estate owners should support us by stalling work on that day.

"District administration will be solely responsible for all the consequences that might occur due to the celebration of Tipu Jayanti," he warned

    not only this step. please ensure not even a single vote goes to Congress in next election from entire Kodagu. Or else it will be shame for entire Kodagu district. Like that all the districts , if decide, we can clean Karnataka from this arrogance team. Let's join our hands and ensure this.

    At least Kodavas have self respect. Their respect towards their ancestors & their determination to take on the state government is laudable.
    Congress party motive is well known since 1947. Their only agenda is Appease... Appease... Appease... But till when? Just think...
    What was the need to celebrate the Jayanthi ?

    When tippu was killed , Mysore people called him Tiger of Mysore - NO ONE OPPOSED

    When Tippu's History was praised in text book - NO ONE OPPOSED

    When Dr. APJ Abdul kalam praised Tippu - NO ONE OPPOSED

    When there was TV Serial about Tippu - NO ONE OPPOSED

    When BJP members joined Tippu jayanthi during their rule - NO ONE OPPOSED

    But when CM Siddaramyya Declared Tippu Jayanthi - EVERYBODY LOST THEIR MIND.
    Majority Of Tippu army where Hindus, Tippus minister of police was a hindu, Tippus treasurer was a Hindu, Many Minister of Tippus Court was also Hindu, and tippu killed hindus and converted them using hindu army?

    Regular endowments to 156 Hindu temples

    If he was against hindus why will he name hindu ministers, who looks after all his rule and wealth.

    Yes tippu attaked kodagau. BUT he aslo attacked nizams and mapila muslims for being side with the Britsh. It was not a religious war. All the historians claimed him to be secular.

    Britsih still honours him for his bravery and works. They still call him Tiger of Mysore, Many of his things still in museum of London, Also Includes ROLLS ROYCE in his honour.

    Tippu and his hindu army fought BRAVELY AND GAVE THEIR LIFE, but we call them killers, wat a shame on us.

    Bjp had no problem when they joined tippu jayanthi, but now they are using if for their political use.

    ADGP (law and order) Kamal Kamal Panth further said that protests against Tipu Jayanti will not be allowed. "Tipu Jayanti is a government programme. So there is no scope for protest against it. Police commissioner and the district police officers will take necessary steps to issue prohibitory orders if required," he said.

    What is the government for? Is not the government supposed to be of the people, for the people and by the people? Are we living in an open free democratic society where everyone has the right to opinion or are we living in Pakistan? In that society where a policeman and his cohort control our lives to the fullest extent? Isn't it our birthright to gather in a peaceful way with a silent protest to make out voices heard? Where do these government employees get their salaries from? Isn't it from the taxes we pay, they are being paid by us to dictate to the very same people whom they supposed to protect.

    The best way forward is to get rid of this corrupt vote bank seeking Congress politicians is to vote BJP in the next elections, then we will get rid of Tipu Jayanthi once and for all.
