Mangaluru: AICS inter-school TT tourney ‘Spin to Win’ held at MCCS

Mangaluru, Aug 13: Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools of DK and Udupi districts (AICS) inter-school Table Tennis tournament 2016 was inaugurated on Saturday, August 13 at 9 am at Mount Carmel Central School (MCCS) Auditorium, Maryhill Mangalore.

The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song led by the students of Class X. The little ones of Class III mesmerized the audience by their gracious welcome dance. The encouraging welcome words by Sr Melissa AC, principal of MCCS put everyone at ease, specially the participants who would take part in the Table Tennis tournament– ‘SPIN to WIN 2016’.

Joy J Rai, the president of AICS and principal of Canara CBSE School, Mangaluru inaugurated the tournament by spinning the TT ball on the board with the opponent Clara Maria, the staff of school who was also a national TT player during her school days. 

In her inaugural address, she encouraged the participants stressing on the importance of participation rather than on winning prizes.

Yasmine Das proposed the vote of thanks and Richa Pinto compered the inaugural programme.

The formal programme was followed by an introductory guideline by Gautham Shetty, chief referee and PD of Delhi Public School, Mangaluru. The tournament began with a participation of 148 students from 22 ICSE and CBSE schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Valedictory & Prize Distribution:

The closing ceremony began with a prayer song led by the students of class X. Sr Maria Jyothi AC, joint secretary of school presided over the function while Raghavalu, manager, SBI, Yeyyadi branch, Mangaluru was the chief guest for the valedictory function. He honoured the prize winners.

Vice-principal Sr Snehal AC welcomed the gathering. Neesha proposed the vote of thanks and Ashwini compeered the programme.

As part of the ‘Green Cover project’, the dignitaries on the dais on both the inaugural and valedictory functions were presented with a Neem sapling to further the care for healthy environment.

Boy’s category-Winners: Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, runners-up: Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Kendra, Alike

Girl’s category-Winners: Delhi Public School, Mangaluru, runners-up: St Mary’s English School, Udupi
