Media Release

Mangaluru, Apr 21: The congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangaluru held the celebration of perpetual profession on Wednesday April 20 at Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla.

Twelve sisters made their final profession and offered themselves forever in the service of the Lord.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza, bishop of Mangaluru officiated at the Eucharist along with thirteen priests.

The bishop exhorted the sisters quoting the words of Pope John Paul II "The essence of religious life is to love Jesus and to live in communion with Him".

Sr Rose Celine, the superior general accepted their vows in the name of the church. She felicitated them for their courageous step to carry the light of Christ to the ends of the earth.

"We congratulate them for their daring 'yes' and their faithfulness to God. Indeed Bethany is grateful to God for the gift of 45 tertians who will make their final commitment at various parts of our country during these days," stated the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany in a press note.

T hose who work in the Vineyard of the Lord commit themselves as His Tool, after hearing His Call in their Conscience. The Holy Spirit attracts them and leads to the Convent, Monastery, Seminary. I consider what a Privilege it is to serve the Lord and those who are rejected by this world.

What a beautiful feeling to watch 12 Bethany sisters made their final profession at Rosa Mystica Convent.

The Nuns of India have a special role to play in the dedication towards life, life of charity and life of nobility that involves so much of sacrifices and struggles in pursuit of serving humanity.

We had one of our sisters who gave so much towards humanity thru the Sisters of Charity order, What a nice satisfaction to feel that God has chosen those few to give their very best for the daily human needs that are ever growing due to increased poverty and increased injustice. The Nuns have the blessings of God to give the very best thru their noble sacrifices that benefit tens of thousands of needy people.

Bethany School of Education at Kankanady have given us our best of Educational foundation, and we are ever so grateful for all that the Bethany Nuns have given us in the form of Education, Knowledge and Experience. The Nuns are smart, and the Nuns are capable to give unto others, because God is walking with the nuns more actively and talking with the nuns more lovingly so that the Nuns can give unto others more generously than many others.

Thank you, Bethany Nuns, for all your dedication to life, specially in Mangalore where the Missionaries have created wonders in a secular society. People of all faiths admire you and respect you for all your love and dedication thru which you reach out the students, the sick, the elderly and many others who are suffering in their own mental and physical ailments.

The life of a Nun is a special gift towards mankind. The Nuns know how to nurture an innocent baby, an elderly and also a needy. The Nuns have the gift of devotion thru their Education. Most importantly, the Nuns have the special blessing of God because in this ever changing world with new challenges, the Nuns have the solutions to the problems because they are willing and they know the value of "giving".

Congratulations on your Profession and God bless.

In a prayer to Lord Shiva there is this beautiful line in Sanskrit:
'yad yad karma karomi thadad akilam
    'Shambo Tavaaradhanam'...
Meaning, whatever I do, O Lord , please consider it as my service to you...
You see, one has to reach a stage to understand this. The stage of complete surrender before the Lord...
It is the same in all religions, irrespective. The paths may be different but the objective is the same...
Lord bless the bthany sisters who do service in his name selflessly....
