Mangalore: St Paul’s church conducts sports day

Mangalore, Oct 21: St Paul’s church conducted the annual sports day, here on Tuesday, October 21.

The sports day commenced with invocation and releasing of the dove, as symbol of peace and victory.

Fr Michael D’Silva, parish priest, Nelson Lobo coordinator of centenary jubilee committee, Anitha D’Souza, secretary, Patrick Pinto, vice-president of parish council, Nancy Cardoza, secretary, Micheal Rodrigues coordinator for games along with the honourable guests Andrew D’Souza Paladka, Dinesh Putran, president, gram panchayat Balkunje among others were present for the programme.

Nelson Lobo welcomed the gathering. Anitha D’Souza expressed words of gratitude for everyone. Freeda Rodrigues compered the programme.

The following games were conducted as part of the sports day events: Picking the grains for KG to 4 standard students, coconut throwing for seniors, weaving the Coconut Kejans for both men and women, cleaning the broom sticks from the coconut kejans for women, filling up the bottle with water for young girls, extracting the coin from the powder through mouth for boys, walking by keeping the balloon in between the legs for boys, running by keeping the book on the head for girls, picking the grains through the straw for PU students, bombing the city for married couples, peeling coconuts, cart game using Powli arecanut for couples, lagori for both men and women and breaking the pot.
