Udupi, Oct 29: The district Komu Souharda Vedike staged a protest demanding CBI probe into the Sowjanya rape and murder case on Monday October 28 in front of the clock tower.

Speaking on the occasion, Komu Souharda Vedike district president Rajashekhar said that the government should look into all the unnatural deaths and suicide cases in the Dharmasthala region.

‘The victim’s parents should get justice. Charge sheets do not support the truth. Police have fixed a mentally disabled person in the case,” he said. He added that people in and around the Dharmasthala region are of the opinion that the murder and rape of Sowjanya has taken place under some mysterious circumstances. The cause of the death should be revealed and it is not possible by COD or the police. The case should be handed over to the CBI, he added.

He also demanded that there are many cases against Dharmadhikari Veerendra Hegde which should be investigated.

The pilgrim center was in limelight for unethical incidents in the area. Dharmadhikari and his family members are powerful and capable of hushing up the entire scenario of illegal deeds, he alleged.

A post card campaign was organized on the occasion demanding CBI inquiry into the case.
