Mangalore, Feb 21: Mount Carmel Central School bid a befitting farewell to the first outgoing batch of 21 students on Saturday February 18 at Maryhill, here.

The programme began with a short prayer service conducted by Class IX students. During Jyothipradhan, a lamp was lit by the joint secretary, principal and the teachers of Class X and then the students of Class X in turn lit their lamps from the main lamp and placed them on a beautiful flower rangoli symbolising their mission to carry out the lessons they learnt at Mount Carmel wherever they go.

The outgoing students took the pledge led by the principal promising their loyalty and service to their alma mater. A short skit conveying the message for the seniors “Patience is the key to success” was enacted. Vinyamol of class IX gave their impressions of the seniors and wished them well. Farewell song was sung by a group of students. The seniors represented by Stephania Pinto and Spencer Machado gave their response saying that they would always cherish their moments spent in the school and that they were really grateful to MCCS, principal, staff and the students for showering on them a lot of love and blessings. The outgoing students handed over a beautiful lamp to the principal as a token of love and gratitude to the alma mater.

The principal Sr Melissa AC in her farewell address urged the outgoing students to face the challenges of life with faith and trust in God and with the blessings of Mother of Carmel and to live to the motto of the school – Higher and Nobler.

The joint secretary Sr Carissima AC blessed the children and handed over the mementos and also a CD of the glimpses of their stay in MCCS, prepared by Vineeth of class IX. The programme was followed by a Eucharistic celebration offered by Fr Santhosh Kamath SJ.
