'Fantasy Island' movie in works


Los Angeles, Aug 1 (IANS): Popular American TV series "Fantasy Island" is all set to turn into a feature film.

Blumhouse and Sony productions have teamed up with filmmaker Jeff Wadlow to start work on the movie, reports variety.com.

Made under Spelling-Goldberg Productions, the "Fantasy Island" television series ran on ABC between 1977 and 1984. It starred Ricardo Montalban as the white-suited Mr. Roarke who oversees a mysterious island where people could live out their fantasies for a price. The series often dealt with dark themes and the supernatural.

The popular series ran for seven seasons with 152 episodes.

The "Fantasy Island" movie will be penned by Wadlow and co-writers, Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs.
