At Gujarat rally, Modi tears into Congress, says 'Yes, I sold tea but not nation'

Rajkot, Nov 27 (Deccan Chronicle): “Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he took a swipe at the Congress party during a campaign rally in election-bound Gujarat on Monday.

Modi, who is leading the BJP's campaign in his home state that is going to polls on December 9, was addressing the rally in Jasdan, Rajkot, when he accused the Congress of defaming “Gujarat”.

Modi also said that the Congress dislikes him because of his poor origins. “Can a party stoop so low? Yes, a person belonging to a poor family has become PM. They do not fail to hide their contempt for this fact. Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation,” he said.

The Prime Minister “requested” the grand old party to “not mock the poor and my poor origins”.

Further attacking the Congress, Modi said the party has the tendency of “pitting one caste against the other”. He asked the people of Jasdan to not let the Congress destroy the composite culture of Gujarat.

Earlier on Monday, the Prime Minister had alluded to allegations that the Congress leaders, including party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, made against him during poll campaigns.

"This Gujarat son has no stains in his public life. You come to the state and level baseless allegations on the son of the soil... the people of the state will not forgive you," Modi had said.

During his campaign in the state in the last few days, Rahul had trained his guns at the Modi-led government over the Rafale fighter aircraft deal.

Modi will address between 32 and 35 rallies in his home state, Gujarat, in the coming fortnight, where Assembly elections for a total of 182 seats will be held in two phase – December 9 and 14.

Later on Monday, the Prime Minister will address rallies in Dhari in Amreli and Kamrej in Surat district. Amreli is dominated by the powerful Patel community.

An entrepreneur, had filed an RTI application with the Railway Board to inquire about any record, registration number or official pass that may have been issued to Narendra Modi, allowing him to sell tea on any train or railway station.
The Railway Board in its reply has said that no such information is available in the TG III Branch of Tourism and Catering Directorate of the board.
“Make no mistake, in a democracy a common man rising to become PM is something all of us should be proud of, but if Mr Modi was selling tea at railway station or on trains, then the Railway Board will certainly have such information.”
Many of us gone to USA and UK for higher studies and worked as waiters to cover our study expenses and room rents.
If there is true in his saying let him give the year he has worked as tea boy and how long he has worked with evidence.
We will gladly welcome and proud that our PM has raised from tea selling.

I also don't care about how much he is educated. If he has the vision to make our country better... well that's good enough for me.

He himself is reminding the nation about his tea vending past possibly for two reasons : Still suffering from inferiority complex and trying to garner support by stirring emotions of people. No issues if one lacks formal educational qualifications, marital status etc.. but lying about these things in an electoral affidavit IS a serious issue.

But, what NDA did after 2014 ? Sold most of Indian economic sectors through FDI between 75% to 100%. So, tell citizens who sold what & who is faking ?

Well our P M need not justify the things he didn't do. but rather focus not on allegations but on what development he had done in 22 years of BJP rule in the state or nearly 4 years of his rule in center.
If he doesn't do that, then it has to be agreed the vikaas model was fake too.
He need to answer to the allegations in Loksabha with proof not in bashans.

But they are afraid to tell this openly because obvious reasons. This is one more fact that is going to hit his followers, as did news that he had a wife. India at its lowest point as on today and it cannot go lower than this. All credit goes to one man for bringing this nation to this low and he is only bent on winning elections by all kinds of gimmicks, lies, money power and speeches made on mammoth podiums while the country is reeling under utter chaos. Can you imagine the whole government of a nation is in one state fighting elections?

To all those so called Modi Bakhts, show me one thing that this man has done good to our country. Please don't follow him blindly. The survival of a country is more important than the popularity of one man and that too an uneducated and completely lost character.

Its time Mr. Modi mellows down a bit. Nobody sold the nation, Congress is the primary force behind liberating the nation, BJP was nowhere in picture. It you who accused the Congress party leaders to have amassed wealth abroad and give assumption that they will find an abode abroad but they are still here.

If Congress party leaders were to sell the nation, not Mallya but Sonia/Rahul/Vadhra would have been in exile. Its Congress who retained Italian Marines but its Modi, in order to get information of Augusta Westland, let off the Marines.

Please bring something new this time Mr. Modi, 2019 is not too far.
