Bihar Assembly session begins amid protests

Patna, Nov 27 (IANS): A five-day winter session of the Bihar Assembly began here on Monday with the opposition RJD members staging protests and shouting slogans against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The short session was likely to be stormy as the opposition is set to take on the Nitish Kumar-led government.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal members raised the Srijaan Scam and Toilet scam and also protested against rising crimes in the state.

Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary adjourned the house after obituary references to former legislators and victims of the Indore-Patna train accident.

Bihar Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shravan Kumar said apart from the second supplementary budget of 2016-17, some important bills would be presented during the session.

Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav said his party would raise the "failures" of the government and issues related to public interest.

The winter session will end on December 1.
