Three FIRs registered in PWD scam, ACB tells Delhi court

New Delhi, Jun 2 (IANS): Delhi's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday informed a local court on Friday that it had registered three FIRs on May 8 following a criminal complaint filed against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in an alleged PWD scam.

Metropolitan Magistrate Abhilash Malhotra directed the ACB Assistant Commissioner to assess the threat perception vis-a-vis one of the complainants and Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation founder Rahul Sharma, after he told the court that two unidentified motorcycle-riding men fired at him two days ago.

The court sought a detailed status report from the ACB by June 8 on the matter as it expressed concern after watching the closed-circuit television footage of the alleged shooting.

In their criminal complaint, Sharma and organisation's Secretary Viplav Awasthy have sought registration of a case against Kejriwal, his brother-in-law Surender Kumar Bansal (who has since passed away), and a Public Works Department officer on charges of cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy.

The complainants alleged irregularities in the grant of contracts for roads and sewerage in Delhi, and accused Kejriwal and others of cheating and defrauding the treasury to the tune of over Rs 10 crore.
