AERB seals 13 X-ray units in Delhi, Kolkata


Chennai, Sep 24 (IANS): The Indian Atomic Energy Board, the country's atomic energy regulator, on Thursday said it has sealed diagnostic X-ray equipments of eight medical facilities in Delhi and Kolkata for non-compliance of regulations and radiation safety measures.

In a statement, the AERB said it has sealed nine diagnostic X-ray equipments located in five centres in Delhi and four equipments located in three centres in Kolkata following inspections.

The board has also issued warnings in relation to 84 equipments located at these facilities (nine in Kolkata and 75 in Delhi), and directed them to comply with regulatory and radiation safety requirements within 30 days.

According to the AERB, the equipments now sealed were found to be operating without obtaining their licences.

The regulator has urged the centres to use its online licensing system.
